The Report on the Development of China's Sharing Economy 2017 released by the newly established State Information Center of China Sharing Economy Research Center in 2017 shows that China's sharing economy is developing rapidly. In 2016, the market transactions of China's sharing economy were about 3452 billion yuan, an increase of 103% over the previous year. It is expected that the proportion of the transaction model in GDP will reach more than 10% in 2020, and the total number of participants will reach 600 million.

In the current market, hot projects such as travel, short term rental, bike sharing, knowledge payment, shared office, and internet healthcare are all products based on the concept of sharing economy and mobile internet technology. In China, the government has adopted a more inclusive attitude towards the sharing economy. The overall idea mentioned in the "Guidelines for the Sharing Economy (Draft for Soliciting Opinions)" released by the National Development and Reform Commission is to support innovation and entrepreneurship development as the core, and to allow and encourage various market entities to actively explore new forms and models of the sharing economy in accordance with the principles of "inclusive innovation, prudent supervision, and strengthened protection".
